Forslean Review – Does it Really Work?

What is Forslean?

Boasting to be NutraCon’s Best New Product of 2001, Forslean markets itself as a weight management aid that has been clinically examined to be effective. Forslean uses only one ingredient, coleus forskohlii, to help people not only burn fat, but build lean muscle mass and help boost metabolism. Or so they claim.

This isn’t the first time that coleus forskohlii has been mentioned as being effective, as television’s own Dr. Oz has also praised the plant ingredient. So does that mean that this product can effectively help you lose weight? Or are the claims of this product much larger than the truth? We decided to find out.

Who makes it?

Bottle with falling out pillsForslean is manufactured by Sabinsa Corporation, which has offices in both New Jersey and Utah. Sabinsa Corp. was founded in 1988 by Dr. Muhammed Majeed who has helped lead his company to win awards in the years of 1995, 1996 and 1997 from the likes of the president of India, to the INC. 500. Sabinsa Corp is known for producing products and services to the nutritional, pharmaceutical and food industries. Forslean  can be purchased on the diet pill’s official website.

How (and) does it work?

Forskolin works by accelerating the cellular concentrations of cyclic AMP (cAMP) and mediated functions of cAMP by activating the Adenylate cyclase enzyme. Accelerating cAMP then leads to the protein kinase being activated. When this is activated, triglycerides, the building blocks of fatty tissue, begin to break down. The end result of all this being a reduction in body fat. When cAMP accelerates lean body mass increases as well.

Despite all the science that the official website displays, not everyone was happy with the results they got, with some users receiving none at all.

What’s inside of it and are there side effects?

The main (and sole) ingredient in Forslean is Coleus forskohlii. A member of the mint family, this plant contains a chemical known as forskolin. In traditional medicine, coleus forskohlii has been used to treat maladies such as asthma. Lately however, forskohlii has been made popular by claims that it can help with weight loss.

The theory behind this is that forskohlii helps activate cAMP, which in turn helps burn body fat, as well has help raise the metabolic rate. Clinical studies have shown however, that the body fat that was lost was very modest, and that there was no change in metabolism at all.

While there haven’t been reports of adverse effects, it is worth mentioning that people who have pre-existing health conditions such as heart disorders or people who take blood thinning medications should talk to a doctor before using this product.

What’s good about it?

Unlike other diet pills with websites that just state claims and advertising copy, Forslean features scientific articles to back up it’s claims. This product is also free of stimulants, and any adverse effects that accompany diet pills that are based on them.

What’s bad about it?

PHARMACEUTICAL_CapsulesPillsFrom what the clinical data has shown us in medical journals such as The International Journal of the Society of Sports Nutrition have mentioned, the key ingredient in this product, coleus forskohlii, is not that effective in helping with weight loss, only giving users a limited amount at best. There is also no change in metabolism.

While the official website can claim studies that show that there is at least some effectiveness in their product, what is missing from these studies is proof that Forslean is a better product than any of the other diet pills that are currently available. When compared against the others, results may not be in this company’s favor.

Forslean is also limiting in who exactly can use the product. If you are someone who is taking anti-hypertensive or anti-asthmatic medicine you should talk to your doctor before using this product. Included in this restriction are also people with low blood pressure.

Wrap Up

While the studies that the official website provides may make this product seem more legitimate, the truth is that the main ingredient is not that effective as it is advertised.

Bottom Line:

The truth of the matter is that, this product is really not that effective in helping people lose weight. While there was some weight loss shown in clinical studies, it was no more than some. The problem with this product, is that it’s main ingredient has been hyped up much more than it deserves. More effective diet pills exist that have ingredients that can actually help you lose weight. Don’t let the studies included on the official website fool you. There are better products available that can help you lose weight.

We recommend looking into more effective diet pills.
