Adipex Review: Safe or unsafe?

What is Adipex?

Making claims that it is one of the most successful weight loss pills in the country, Adpiex helps suppress the hunger pains that overweight users are so susceptible to succumbing to. Coming in tablet form, Adipex focuses it’s marketing energies on overweight people looking to shed off pounds like a snake shedding off old skin. Adipex is prescribed for only short term use, unlike other weight loss supplements where an end date isn’t even mentioned.

Short term use only? What is this, a Superman pill? Saving the day and still having time to get home and lose a few pounds? With such a quick turnaround, one has to be skeptical as to the validity of these statements. As is stated on the company’s website however, weight loss will only be significant if a healthy diet and exercise are included into the equation. To be sure of what we were looking at, we decided to do some research into this product.

Who makes it?

diet-loss-medication-pill-weight.2Adipex is manufactured Gate Pharmaceuticals, which is currently part of the Israeli based Teva Pharmaceuticals. Teva Pharmaceuticals manufactures both generic and specialty medicines. Adipex can be obtained after having been given a prescription from a doctor after a physical consultation.

How (and) does it work?

Adipex is an anorectic, which means that it works by stimulating the central nervous system. The end result of this is that the user’s appetite is suppressed. When ingesting the tablet, the company instructs it’s users to take an hour or two before breakfast.

Though some have reported results, other users report that the results were minimal if diet and exercise were not included into the regimen.

What’s inside of it and are there side effects?

Adipex is the brand name of phentermine, which is a combination of chemicals that include phenyl-tertiary butylamine. It is this combination that helps suppress appetite. Being chemically similar to amphetamine, this can scare some potential users away from this product. If synthetic diet supplements made in laboratories don’t interest you, and what really does are diet pills made up of all natural ingredients, please read the top 10 list.

Mild side effects:  Drowsiness, mild headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps and changes in sex drive.

Severe side effects: Shortness of breath, severe headache, uneven heart rate, swelling in the lower extremities and seizures.

*Note: If any of the severe side effects are experienced, it is recommended to contact a doctor right away.*

What’s good about it?

This product is approved by the FDA, so you know there is some validity to it’s claims.

What’s bad about it?

medical pillsWhen looking over the negative side effects of Adipex, one starts to get the idea that there is more to this than meets the eye than just taking some natural weight loss pill. People who have kidney, liver or heart conditions, as well as pregnant women and those who have just undergone surgery are not recommended to use Adipex. While the company’s website does list that these afore mentioned people should avoid using Adipex, other users who have bought the product have also reported experiencing these negative side effects as well.

Something else to understand about Adipex is there is a potential for it to become habit forming, which is why it is only recommended to be used on a short term basis. Extended use of Adipex may lead to addiction, and in worse cases an overdose. People with a history of mental illness and those who have recently undergone surgery would be especially prone to this.

Which isn’t to say that Adipex may also cause withdrawal symptoms. If taken in a high amount, the company’s website urges it’s users to first talk to a doctor before outright quitting. Losing weight is one thing, but to have to risk becoming chemically addicted to a substance to achieve that goal is more than you should have to bargain for.

Wrap up

While helping those who are obese shed a few pounds, clearly this product wasn’t intended for mass consumption by everyone. For people not comfortable with synthetic weight loss products with potential negative side effects, you may want to focus your energies elsewhere.

Bottom Line:

If you want to lose weight and want to find a product that can help you do just that and keep off the pounds, it may be best if you choose another product that won’t potentially harm your physical well being in such a variety of ways as with this product. Reading the negative side effects alone are enough to make one wonder if this is the right diet pill that they should be looking into. Remember, there are plenty of other products out there for the same price, possibly less, that are proven to be effective. Admitting that Adipex needs diet and exercise included is honest, unlike other diet pills that disregard these points. But if you don’t feel like possibly noticing your sex drive change or watching your feet and ankles swell, it’s always good to remember that there are other products out there on the market.

We recommend looking into other diet pills that may be better and more effective
